• Research for the conservation of genetic resources
  • Combined efforts and promotion of young scientists in Germany and CoSIAR countries
  • CoSIAR offers an interface and platform for researchers: Current research activities within the CoSIAR countries can be apprehended by universities and conservation organizations.  Fundamental research documents conducted in the CoSIAR countries have been compiled and are downloadable.
  • CoSIAR proposes new and long-overdue research studies in the respective countries
  • Students, MSc and PhD-candidates are provided the opportunity to conduct their research with the support of CoSIAR
  • Research topics are conceptualized by CoSIAR, thus research is always oriented towards the conservation of species/ecosystems
  • CoSIAR selects research topics and proposes these to selected universities particularly to those with a focus on conservation science in the Asian tropics. In doing so, it is a prerequisite to establish university partnerships between Germany and the CoSIAR countries.
  • A research group is then identified, consisting of a minimum of two students one from Germany and one from a CoSIAR country.
  • The final selected CoSIAR-project will ideally find the support (logistics, infrastructure) of conservation organizations already based in the study region and country.
  • Field research is linked to measures to environmentally educate the local communities to sustainably conserve biodiversity.
  • Through national and international public relations, current research and results will be dispersed by various print media, e.g., articles in newspapers and magazines, children’s books, textbooks, scientific journals or introduced and portrayed by radio and television.
  • CoSIAR is totally dependant from sponsors who highly promote conservation science and foster international cooperation to sustainably conserve the diversity of species and ecosystems in the CoSIAR countries for coming generations.
  • CoSIAR researchers will openly indicate sponsors during their field studies, advertise through logos and list sponsors in all published and aired material.
  • CoSIAR aims to regularly inform a world audience through TV documentaries on current research activities.
